We can assume that if God wants to stop a building program all he has to do is to break up the communication and if he wants to build a church, all he has to do is to re-establish communication.  I think that establishing and maintaining communication is that vital to a successful Project. 

Quality is job one!  Always be Improving

Our objective is to design and build church facilities that contribute to growth.  According to Pastor Rick Warren, first time visitors will decide if they will return for a second visit after only ten minutes of their first visit.  We must design and build in such a way that the first ten minutes of each visit are such that people want to return for a second and then a third look.  Curb appeal will draw people to the building and the quality of the building will continue to draw them in.  Jesus said that we should compel people to come into his house.

Budget: Count the Cost!

Jesus said very little about construction considering that he was raised in a carpenter’s home.  He talked a lot about farming but never said that you should measure twice and cut once or that the sum of the squares of the right angle is equal to the square root of the hypotenuse, but he did say, “What man among you, desiring to build a tower, will not first set down to count the cost…”  For Covenant counting the cost starts out before the design does and never stops until at least a year after the construction is completed.  As I have already stated, the design team should include a construction specialist whose sole responsibility is to maintain the construction budget restraints.   

Building on Schedule: Always be Finishing

We have already discussed the Daily Report and its value as a diary of the construction process but it is also the best way that you can make yourself accountable to a long term project schedule on a daily basis.  It is the things that we do every day that make a difference.  Project scheduling is very simple in that we just keep the horse in front of the cart and create a flow that will get you into your building on schedule.
